Art Deco Inspired Home - Balgowlah

Interior Details:

The concept for this existing Bungalow style home was to incorporate Art Deco and traditional detailing into the interior design in combination with contemporary finishes and components. This upper level addition incorporated a master suite with sun deck, bedroom, bathroom and additional living space into the layout.

Art Deco Bathroom:

The large master ensuite has become a centrepiece for the overall design with the blend of Art Deco and contemporary styling. An Art Deco motif has been inscribed into each half of the centrally opened sliding timber doors. The halves then come together to form the motif giving the suite a unique and interesting detail. The walls are finished in white linear tiles with contrasting black glass, and geometric shapes highlight the centrally positioned vanity unit. These elements are all typical of traditional Art Deco design.

Feature Stained-glass Windows:

The existing stained-glass, patterned bay windows on the lower level were replicated in the new upper level addition to help complete the integration. A large stained-glass window was also installed over the new stair, which created a focal point for the new double height entry with a view up to the open mezzanine. These features offer lovely accents of rich colour to the white interior.
