Areas:
Floor Area = 70 sqm
Construction Budget:
$50k +(trade cost)
Status:
Completed in 2002
Brief:
This owner / architect project involved the refurbishment of a dated 1970's style two bedroom unit located on the top level of an apartment block offering distant sea views of Dee Why Beach.
Solution:
The works involved refreshing the small and dated bathroom and kitchen to improve the available storage and create a better use of space.
A false wall was constructed in the bathroom to conceal existing, exposed fixtures and to create recessed cabinets and cistern, which streamlined the room allowing it to appear larger and cleaner. High quality finishes and fixtures were used throughout to modernise the bathroom including shell-stone tiling to the floor, and a feature coloured tile wall behind the shower and bath.
The kitchen works involved adding new sheeted ceilings and cornices as well as a bulkhead over the kitchen to incorporate feature down lights. An 'as new' second hand kitchen complete with a double black granite bench top was installed and high quality and durable Amtico timber-look vinyl was laid on the floor to complete the transformation.
