Brief:
Perched on a large site, the existing house, which sloped down towards the North with panoramic views of Shelly Beach, was to be completely remodelled to create a large and sophisticated residence.
The area was presented with strict council controls, which placed limitations on the roof crown encroaching above the existing street level. Upon these restrictions, the entire house had to be demolished to enable flexibility within the design of the building height.
Solution:
This existing home was completely stripped back to its concrete frame and recreated with a substantial addition to the rear to devise this four level, terraced home. This included large living areas and high ceilings, which opened onto generous outdoor terraces maximising the views to Shelly Beach.
Special attention was given to the roof design as the front entry approach looked directly down and over the levels. A fifth facade was articulated incorporating subtle changes in materiality and levels of the roof to generate visual interest from street level.
This high-end development achieved a contemporary and sleek design combining high quality finishes and detailing throughout, with a strong emphasis on space and light.
