Construction:
Concrete slab on ground, pitched Colourbond roof
Construction Budget:
$400k + (trade cost)
Status:
Completed in 2002
Brief:
The existing house was an older style, brick home located on a sloping site within a lovely bush setting. The brief required the existing home to be demolished and a much larger contemporary home with additional attic space to be designed for this developer / builder project.
Solution:
The northerly aspect was maximised to achieve free-flowing living areas and the dual frontage allowed the creation of an impressive south entrance, which revealed the free-standing, internal staircase through a glass curtain wall.
By stretching the limits of council controls, the design achieved 4 levels incorporating the additional attic space.
The house was onsold soon after completion for a record price for the street highlighting the value of good design and careful planning.
