Areas:
Site = 501 sqm, First floor addition = 150 sqm
Scope:
Upper level addition with Art Deco interior features. New entry and stair plus powder room.
Construction:
Full brick, timber floor, pitched tile roof
Construction Budget:
$500k +
Status:
Completed end of 2009 - Not yet photographed
Brief:
This existing single level, Bungalow style home required a first floor addition, which completely integrated into the era of the house without looking like a boxy add-on, and included traditional detailing in the interior.
Solution:
The existing roof was completely demolished to allow for the new level addition incorporating a master bedroom and ensuite, sun deck, bedroom, living area, bathroom, stair and balcony. The new master suite now opens up to an outdoor sun deck overlooking the rear pool complete with an adjustable Vergola roof. This allows flexibility and sun control to the deck area.
Art Deco detailing was highlighted internally with classic style fixtures including travertine stone floors, traditional mouldings and custom designed sliding bathroom doors, which feature an Art Deco style motif inscribed into the timber leaves.
This project is a great example of a successful addition that integrates completely with the existing traditional elements of the home without comprimising on a modern way of living.
