Brief:
The existing cement rendered cottage presented a very boxy and unfinished look lacking street appeal and aspiration. Many of the building's elements were ineffective with a hidden and undefined front entrance, unlandscaped front yard and a balcony over the garage, which served little purpose.
The home did offer an existing, modern and distinctive pool at the rear of the property, which the client had designed by a well-known landscape architect.
Solution:
The design involved considerable remodelling to the front recreating a more defined and larger entry way with a high ceiling and storage space. A front yard was also established with substantial and interesting landscaping, and new internal access from the garage.
The internal works included refurbishments to the bathrooms, a new industrial style kitchen and a large hidden attic space integrated into the ceiling creating additional space. An automated aluminium vergola was incorporated to the back terrace increasing flow from living spaces to the outdoor pool area.
The completed home is a functional and modern design, which has transformed the street appeal and residential presentation of this family residence.
