The brief
A considered renovation and extension on Edgecliffe Boulevard — a street that sits at the edge of the plateau overlooking the bush and coast of Collaroy. The existing home had good bones but a dated presentation and a rear layout that didn’t connect to its spectacular bush outlook.
The response was a contemporary makeover that updates the facade and creates a new rear extension opening directly to a terrace with bush and district views. The palette of materials is restrained — the architecture steps back to let the setting take over.

The design thinking
Collaroy Plateau has some of Sydney’s most underrated residential addresses — homes perched at the edge of a sandstone escarpment looking north over the bush to the coast. The Edge House renovation was designed to make the most of that position.
The rear extension creates a new threshold between the interior and the terrace — so you step out of the kitchen into the bush. The facade update gives the house a presence on Edgecliffe Boulevard that matches its exceptional setting.
