Construction Certificate

The approval that allows construction to begin. It comes after your DA and before your builder breaks ground.

The final step before building

A Development Approval (DA) gives you planning consent. A Construction Certificate (CC) confirms that the detailed design and engineering comply with the Building Code of Australia — it's the final hurdle before work can legally begin.

What a CC requires

  • Final architectural drawings consistent with the DA approval
  • Structural engineering drawings and specifications
  • Compliance with Building Code of Australia (BCA)
  • BASIX commitments reflected in the design
  • Any DA conditions addressed in the documentation
  • Long Service Levy paid
  • Home Building Compensation Fund insurance confirmed

Private certifiers

A CC is issued by either council or a private certifier. Private certifiers are typically faster and we work with several experienced certifiers across our service area. We can recommend one suited to your project and coordinate the CC process on your behalf.

The certifier also becomes the Principal Certifying Authority (PCA) for inspections during construction — so choosing the right one matters beyond just getting the CC issued.
