Some things don't need a full site meeting and a formal process. The Hourly Rate Service covers short pieces of architectural advice — a specific question, a document to look over, a second opinion — where the Initial Service or Pre-purchase Consultation would be more than you need.
Minimum engagement — $600 plus $60 GST. Payable when you book. You can leave the time open ended, or set a maximum number of hours on the booking form.

Short, defined pieces of work where you mainly need an architect's judgement rather than a design process.
If you're starting a renovation or a new home, the Initial Service Meeting is where to begin. It's the same fee, but it's a structured two hours on site with research beforehand — understanding how you live, what the site allows, which approval pathway suits, and refining your brief so the work can be properly quoted. Clients often come to us having been quoted on a scope that was never right for them; that process exists to prevent it.
The Hourly Rate Service is for everything that sits outside that — where you already know what you need and it simply doesn't warrant the full process.
