Bayview Retreat
Design concept
The brief
A retreat worth returning to.
Bayview Retreat is a design concept for a generous waterfront home on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The site at Bayview looks across the Pittwater estuary — calm water, bush-lined shores, and the kind of light that makes every room feel like a painting.
The design is structured around arrival and view: a generous driveway leads to a front door that immediately frames the water. Inside, a central hall with a feature staircase draws you through the house and out to the spa pool and rear terrace beyond.
An internal elevator connects the levels — a practical inclusion on a sloping waterfront site that also speaks to the long-term thinking that goes into a home built to last.
Design story
In amongst the Trees.
Bayview sits at the top of Pittwater — quiet, sheltered, and a world away from the surf beaches a few kilometres south. A home here should reflect that: not the bold geometry of a beach house, but something more considered and settled.
Bayview Retreat is designed to feel permanent and calm. The materials are robust — rendered masonry, stone paving, steel-framed glass. The plan is generous without being excessive. The spa pool faces west for evening sun. Everything is in the right place.
