Brief

The existing home is a sweet but dated traditional home with a Gambrel style roof, with the living upstairs and bedrooms downstairs.

My clients wanted the living and kitchen downstairs, with flowing spaces and bedrooms upstairs. They also wanted the tandem carport replaced with a double garage, storage and a pool.

Solution

We kept the gambrel style roof and demolished much of the back at the lower level so it could be rebuilt with more space for a deck to the north and to utilise some wasted south-facing space to the side.

In the front, we widened a front bedroom and converted it to a garage with traditional looking tilt doors. On the other side, we added an entry and entry porch, which was needed and helped to balance the house by making it symmetrical.

We extended the gambrel upper level to the rear for a large master suite with balcony. The overall styling of the completed home is Hampton's inspired in white and grey.
